Today I got chance to upgrade my production Vmware vSphere server 5.0 to vSphere 5.0 update 1. Few days back MyTricks reported release of VMware vSphere ESXi 5 update 1. This update contains all bug fixes with some additional features such as support for Windows 8 & Windows 8 Server.

To upgrade VMware vSphere 5 to vSphere 5 Update 1 using vSphere update manager you need to update
1. VMware vCenter Serve from 5.0 to 5.0 update 1
2. vSphere update manager from 5.0 to 5.0 update 1
3. Last & most important vSphere 5.o to vSphere 5.0 Update 1 upgrade

So lets get started,
Navigate to Update Manager->Patch Repository-> Click on Import Patch as shown below.
Here we are going to import downloaded VMware vsphere 5.0 U1 patch. Click on Browse & provide patch of the patch & click next.
